Energy resources are running out!

For centuries, humans have used mostly non-renewable energy resources. In addition to drying up over time and their exploitation, they are generally polluting and harmful to both the environment and human health. The use of renewable energies has only taken off in recent decades. It coincides with a late awakening.

Over-consumption of fossil energy resources

Currently, 80 th of the world's primary energy production comes from the production of fossil fuels such as oil, gas, uranium and coal.

However, none of these energy resources are inexhaustible. According to expert estimates, at today's rate of consumption, the world's reserves are expected to be exhausted in 2073 for oil, 2082 for gas, 2119 for uranium and 2131 for coal. According to the International Energy Agency, global energy demand is likely to increase by a further 45 percent in the next 10 years due to population growth and the emergence of countries such as China and India.

An unavoidable anticipation of the drying up of reserves

To this day, human daily life (electricity production, vehicle fuels, etc.) and the world economy still depend to a large extent on the production of fossil fuels despite advances in technology. Faced with the problem of depletion of energy resources, it is imperative to anticipate it.

Several levers can be activated, such as energy efficiency. It makes it possible to reduce the consumption of natural resources by increasing the efficiency of available installations and reducing losses during production, transport, etc. Another lever to preserve them as long as possible is the development of renewable energies as a means of energy production.

The exploitation of solar energy as a first solution

The energy crisis is affecting the whole world and the world's population (global warming due to greenhouse gases, accidents in nuclear power plants, etc.). It is time to turn to clean and renewable energy sources.

The first solution is the use of solar energy, such as the Rancheria mini-grid involving private individuals and an electrical service company. Its advantages? A mini-grid allows individuals to benefit from a connection shared by the partner company. This also avoids the constant handling of a system that is not connected to the electrical grid, frequent maintenance of batteries and solar panels, etc.

Other possible alternatives to the use of fossil fuels

Solar energy offers the advantage of making it possible to produce electricity and heat (photovoltaic solar energy recovered by solar panels and solar thermal energy). Other alternatives exist such as wind energy.

Its exploitation involves the construction and installation of wind turbines on well-defined sites to capture and convert the energy of the wind. Although it is a renewable energy, it has the disadvantage of being noisy and distorting the natural landscape. Hydropower is also a possible solution. It consists of using the movement of bodies of water to drive turbines and produce electricity.

Finally, geothermal and biomass are other possibilities.
